Recent Mission Trips
Ukraine, November 2018
For the past five years, Equipped for Life has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Pastor Volodia Volianyk and the members of the Lutsk Bible Church in Lutsk, Ukraine. We had an extraordinary time together this fall with this fantastic family of faith.
Through the course of the ten days away, I got to teach a 3-day leadership training series for the church leadership team in the evenings. Then over the weekend, I got to go with the members to a retreat center for three more days focused on masterplanning, discipleship, inspiration, prayer and worship.
The church has met in rented facilities since it began several years ago but has now acquired property and looks to build a very functional building near the center of the city. They have surveyed their own members, primarily young singles and families just starting out in life, in order to see what they can afford to build. With the economic stresses faced by the Ukrainian population, their own resources would be taxed excessively to fulfill their dream of having their own facility. I am praying with them that the Lord will raise up support for this vision from folks like you who learn about their need and embrace it as a part of your giving in the coming year! Let me know if you want to help and I will make the arrangements. They will be overjoyed if you can help!
Meanwhile, we will continue our relationship with this amazing group and look for ways to continue equipping them and their leaders to excel still more in the ministry God has given them! Pray for them as you look at this selection of pictures of the gracious, committed people of the Lutsk Bible Church!
Cuba, January 2018
Cathy and I joined a team of eighteen on a trip to Havana, Cuba to teach a pastors' conference for church planters, a women's conference, and then participate in ministry through the local churches on Sunday morning. Over the past few years, hundreds of churches and thousands of new believers have experienced the saving grace of Christ. We were overwhelmed by the strength of their commitment, the power of their testimony and the intensity of their heart for being equipped for life and ministry!

Romania, November 2017
Over the course of a week, in addition to teaching in a few classes at Emanuel University, arrangements were made by the School of Management to host two leadership seminars for local business leaders. A breakfast at the Doubletree Hotel in Oradea kicked off the first seminar in one of their conference rooms on Tuesday morning of that week. The morning seminar allowed us to introduce biblical leadership principles to about ten business men and women from the Oradea business community. A group of a dozen or more attended an all-day seminar on Friday of that week on the Emanuel University campus. The hope is that the School of Management can continue to build bridges into the local business community so that the gospel can cross over and impact the lives of the leaders and through them their families, businesses and the entire surrounding community!

The Diversity of the Body: Our Time in South Africa - October 2016
For ten days in October 2016, David and Cathy Horner traveled to South Africa carrying out the vision of EFL to equip Christian leaders. We especially enjoyed working alongside George Tissiere and Larry Warren with a work team from Providence. They did an amazing job of painting, tiling, building a celling and in many other ways helping a church prepare its new building as a place of worship and child-care.
Cathy taught a conference for women's leaders working in the Khayelitsha township. Along with a couple of other pastors and leaders from the United States, David got to teach as part of a church-planting pastors' conference. The pastors are Ethiopian and have planted over 75 churches among Ethiopian refugees all over South Africa. A hard-working team of leaders from South Korea give oversight to that great work and provide support for their labors.
